The South-South Zonal Conference of the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB) hosted by Delta State University, Abraka, From 6th-7th May, 2025.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba , duly represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Hilary Owamah , informed the audience that the conference was not merely an academic ritual, but a strategic intellectual gathering where scholars, researchers, educators, and policymakers assemble to highlight cutting-edge knowledge in biochemistry and molecular biology as well as to forge new solutions to the challenges confronting our region and our nation at large .
Speaking at the auspicious occasion, Vice-Chancellor, anchored on the theme of the conference “Advancing Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for National Development in the Era of Artificial Intelligence,” expressing that it is a compelling reminder of the urgent need to align scientific discovery with developmental priorities in this epoch of artificial intelligence. He, however, appreciated the convener of the event stating the impact of the colloquium in collaboration and enhancing the capacity to practice the profession beyond the approach of discipline but as a transformative medium to our society.
The occasion was graced by the Hon. Commissioner for Higher Education, Delta State, Prof. Nyerhovwo Tonukari; some Principal Officers of the University, President of NSBMB and its national members including other members of staff of DELSU and pervasive invitees.
