Over the years, DELSU has contributed immensely to Abraka community in fostering innovation, increasing property value, promoting social cohesion, enhancing educational opportunities, promoting local culture, and attracting tourism. Today was an exceptional episode of community engagement as the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Samuel O. Asagba , fitly represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Hilary Ijeoma Owamah, led the National Association of Doctors in the University Health Services, NADUHS DELSU and the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) DELSUTH on a catchy Wednesday free-medical programme.

Over 500 residents with multifarious health conditions at Umiaghwa & Oruarivie Kingdoms, Abraka assembled in an integrated manner at the Oruarivie and Umiaghgwa town halls, Abraka and were individually rendered medical screening, diagnosis, treatment , health education and referrals without any medical fees. Free medical eye glasses, assorted drugs, and others were equally given out.

It was indeed a consummate charitable gesture by the amiable vice-chancellor.
